Plyo vs Vercel, honestly
Vercel is excellent, and for a lot of people it's the right answer. Connect the place your code lives, and every change rebuilds the site automatically. The free tier is generous, the speed is genuinely good, and it scales far past anything a first project needs. If you already work like a developer, this page probably ends here.
The gap it leaves is the reason Plyo exists. Vercel assumes your code already lives somewhere with version history, that you can pick the right build settings from a list, and that when a build fails you can tell which of the forty red lines matters. Every one of those assumptions is fine for an engineer and breaks on the first error for someone whose AI wrote the code.
| Vercel | Plyo | |
|---|---|---|
| getting online the first time | sign in, connect a code host, choose build settings, fix the first failure | your AI publishes directly, or you drag the folder in |
| version history | whatever your code host holds, read in developer terms | a plain timeline of your own versions, restore in one click |
| when an update breaks the site | the old version stays live; you roll back from the dashboard | same, and a failed publish never replaces the working one |
| when something fails | build logs, written for engineers | the error in plain English, plus a prompt to paste back to your AI |
| leaked API keys | publishes whatever you hand it | scanned before it goes live, serious ones blocked |
| server code, teams, analytics, scale | extensive, and a real reason to choose it | basic |
| cost to start | free | free, 3 projects |
Which one to pick
Pick Vercel if you're comfortable reading build output, or if you already know the project needs server code, a team, or serious traffic. Those are real capabilities and Plyo does not match them.
Pick Plyo if your AI writes the code, you don't, and the thing that actually worries you is losing work or breaking the live version at 11pm with no way back. That is the problem it was built around.
Plenty of people end up using both: Plyo holds the history and the safety check, and a project that grows into needing server code moves on. Nothing traps you either way. The code stays yours, and moving it is copying a folder.
Worth checking whichever you choose
AI tools leave secret keys in files more often than anyone admits, and both services will happily publish one. Our free key-leak scanner checks a live site in seconds and works on Vercel-hosted sites too.
Plyo is the home for AI-built projects — every version saved, one click to undo, one click to publish, plus a safety check, visitor counts and backups. Free to start: 3 projects, no card needed.
