GUIDE

Lovable lost my work. Now what?

A prompt went wrong and your app is broken, or parts of it are gone. Work through these in order; most people get their project back at step 1 or 2.

1. Use Lovable's revert

Every Lovable edit can be reverted from the project's history: open the version list and restore the last version that worked. The catch, and it matters: Lovable's revert is all-or-nothing. Rolling back to Tuesday also removes everything good you added after Tuesday. If the damage is recent, that trade is fine. If good work landed since, keep reading before you revert.

2. Check whether GitHub sync was on

If you ever connected your Lovable project to GitHub, there's a full copy of every version there, and you can recover selectively instead of all-or-nothing. You don't need to read code to use it: open the GitHub website, find the project, and either download the whole project as a zip from an earlier point in the history, or hand the link to someone technical for ten minutes.

3. Mine the chat for what the code said

Lovable's chat history often contains large pieces of your app as it existed earlier, inside the AI's own responses. Scroll back to before the damage and paste this:

Earlier in this conversation the app was working. Look back through this chat for the versions of the files you changed in your last few edits, and restore those exact versions. Do not rewrite them from memory; use what's actually in the history.

4. Rebuild the smallest possible piece

Only when 1–3 come up empty. Describe the one broken screen precisely (what it did, what it looked like, what it connected to) rather than asking the AI to "fix everything", which tends to break more.

So it never happens again

Two habits close this hole for good:

Plyo is the home for AI-built projects — every version saved, one click to undo, one click to publish, plus a safety check, visitor counts and backups. Free to start: 3 projects, no card needed.
